Join athletes from across Colorado for a weekend of competition, community, and growth.
Saturday features the Solid Series BJJ Fall Open, followed by Sunday’s Muay Thai Scrimmage.

  • Both events will be located on the basketball courts. The entrance is through the door on your left directly when you walk in. 

  • Street parking is available as well as the two 500-spot parking garages adjacent to the venue.

  • Please avoid staff-only areas behind the building.

  • Elevator and ADA-accessible restrooms are available.

This event is a special opportunity for both kids and adults to experience competition in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.

If you cannot make it to a Friday weigh-in, please email us at info@solidseriesevents.com. Anyone who does not receive their wristband Friday will need to pick it up at the Check-In Table on event day.

Bracket, Match Formatting, the Smoothcomp App

  • After weigh-ins on Friday night, our team works diligently to finalize everyone’s brackets.

  • This process can take several hours, so please plan on checking Smoothcomp early Saturday morning for your finalized divisions and match times.

  • Download the Smoothcomp App

    • All brackets, schedules, and live updates will be managed through smoothcomp. To follow your division in real time, download the official app from your devices app store before the event day.​

    • Log in using your smoothcomp account, search for "Solid Series Fall Open"

    • Pro tip: Enable notifications in the app so you'll get real-time updates when it's your turn to compete!

Schedule

Friday, November 14th — Weigh-Ins

  • 4:00–7:00 PM at approved academies (see above)

  • 2 lb allowance, no gi required

Saturday, November 15th — Tournament Day

  • Doors open at 8:00 AM

  • Kids Warm-Up: 9:00 AM

  • Kids & Teens Matches: 9:30–10:00 AM start

  • Adult Matches: Begin around 1:00–2:00 PM

  • Check Smoothcomp for live match times and bracket updates

Arrival Times:

Kids & Teens (17 & Under): Please arrive by 9AM

Adult Competitors: Please arrive at least 1 hour before your first scheduled match.

Check-In & Wristbands

  • Red wristband: Athletes (provided at weigh-ins or check-in desk)

  • Green wristbands: Two per youth athlete for parents/guardians

  • Yellow wristbands: Coaches (check in under academy name)

  • Blue wristbands: Volunteers, sponsors, and staff

  • Extra spectator wristbands: $10 each (kids 10 & under free, wristband required)

What to Bring

  • Clean, properly fitted gi

  • Rash guard and shorts (for No-Gi)

  • Mouthpiece (recommended)

  • Positive attitude & team spirit

Rules & Format

  • Each division guarantees two matches minimum.

  • Matches decided by points or submission only (no advantages).

  • Modified IBJJF rules for safety and fairness.

  • Kids (Ages 4–12): Omoplata, Ezekiel, and Head & Arm chokes allowed.

  • Adults (Brown/Black No-Gi): Reaps, heel hooks, and advanced leg entanglements allowed.

Medals & Trophies

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners receive custom Solid Open medals. 

  • Must pick up at the event

  • Introducing custom Solid Crystal team trophies for Kids and Adult Team Winners!

Muay Thai Scrimmage Info

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at this weekend’s SOLID SERIES Muay Thai Scrimmage! Thank you for the time and effort you’ve put into preparing your athletes for this event. The scrimmage is designed to give students a chance to test their skills and growth in a safe, structured, and positive environment.

What you need to know: 

Tickets 

  • Spectators: $10 at the Check-In Table (kids 10 & under free)

  • Athletes: By invitation only through partner academies

  • Coaches: Check in under academy name on arrival

Schedule

  • Coach/Athlete Check-In + Weigh-Ins: 9:00 – 10:00 AM (please arrive no earlier than 9 AM)

  • Rules Meeting: 11:15 – 11:45 AM

  • Wai Kru Demonstration: 11:45 – 12:00 PM

  • First Matches Begin: 12:00 PM

Equipment & Attire 

To ensure fairness and safety:

 

Adults

  • Gloves and shin pads provided by Solid Series (IDs checked out and returned after bout)

  • Open-face headgear is required for the scrimmage. Athletes have the option to bring their own, we will have some available to borrow.

    • Please note, if your headgear is not satisfactory, you will be required to borrow one. 

  • Wear Muay Thai shorts (no pockets or zippers) and tucked shirt/sports bra as appropriate

  • Bring mouthpiece and groin protection (if applicable)

  • Cloth hand wraps only — no tape or gauze

Youth Athletes

  • No Head Contact (NHC): Use regular training gloves and shin pads (no specific weight required)

  • Light Head Contact (LHC): Solid Series provides gloves at equipment table; athletes may bring or borrow shin guards

  • All Youth Bouts (NHC & LHC): Solid Series provides chest protectors to be checked out at equipment table

Bring along: Water bottle, snacks, and a hoodie or sweatpants for downtime in the venue.

Scrimmage Format & Rules 

  • Class E — Education Rules: No winners or losers; every bout ends in a draw

  • Judging focuses on balance, timing, accuracy, and technique, not power or damage

  • No elbows or knees to the head; no oblique kicks or leg reaps

  • Sweeps and throws allowed only with proper form (over hip/thigh)

  • Controlled clinch work required — active and intentional

  • Coaches receive scorecards and technical feedback after each bout

Round Info

  • Adults: 3 × 2-minute rounds with 1-minute rest

  • Youth 12 & Under: 3 × 1-minute rounds (:30 rest)

  • Youth 13 & Over: 3 × 1:30 rounds (:45 rest)

Coaching & Spectator Expectations

  • Coaches should coach for their athlete, not against the opponent

  • Spectators must cheer positively and respectfully — no negative comments

  • Officials may instruct athletes to adjust pace for safety if needed

  • Youth matches prioritized; adults run lightest to heaviest across two rings

  • Some athletes may be invited to compete twice to maximize experience

Medals

  • All scrimmage participants will earn custom event medals

  • This scrimmage exists to develop confidence, control, and respect through Muay Thai. Every match is a learning opportunity — not a fight — and every athlete leaves with more experience than they entered with.
